Description:

Montrose Environmental Group, a global leader in environmental services, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Geologist to join their dynamic team in Nashville, Tennessee. As a Project Geologist, you will play a key role in overseeing environmental field investigations, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing sampling and remediation operations, and supporting data-driven environmental decisions. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, scientists, and field professionals to design and implement solutions that enhance environmental resilience and sustainability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the installation of soil borings, monitoring and remediation wells, and ensure proper collection of environmental samples in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Prepare and maintain environmental records, permits, and reports, ensuring full compliance with company and agency standards.

  • Assist in vendor management, procurement, and labor/material cost estimation for projects.

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret field and lab data to develop environmental assessment and compliance reports.

  • Conduct and oversee field investigations, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.

  • Review and evaluate operational permits and environmental programs for regulatory compliance and cost control.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety programs, upholding OSHA and Montrose safety policies.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental regulations, industry trends, and best practices through training, workshops, and professional publications.

  • Work collaboratively with senior technical staff to generate accurate, high-quality technical documentation and reports.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the organization’s environmental and compliance goals.


Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from an accredited institution

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Geology or Hydrogeology


Licenses & Certifications:

  • Preferred: Professional Geologist (PG) registration

  • Preferred: OSHA 1910.120 HAZWOPER certification (training provided if not held)

  • Must possess or be willing to obtain OSHA safety training and pass a physical examination confirming ability to meet fieldwork demands


Skills & Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of geologic principles and field application in environmental contexts

  • Proficient in soil and groundwater sampling, data analysis, and field instrumentation (depth-to-water meters, detection tools, etc.)

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and technical writing skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to draw logical conclusions from complex data sets

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy under pressure

  • Strong verbal and written communication with attention to detail and legible field documentation

  • Physical capability to work in various outdoor environments and weather conditions

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, confidentiality, and environmental responsibility
