Description:

The Consortium, Inc. is seeking a passionate and experienced Grassroots Organizer to serve as a Project Manager for advocacy and community engagement initiatives in the New York City metropolitan area. This hybrid position plays a critical role in empowering communities, driving social and political action, and supporting mission-driven campaigns. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin and possess a deep understanding of NYC's diverse communities.

This role demands a leader with strong interpersonal skills, extensive experience in community engagement, and the ability to manage and motivate volunteers while collaborating with advocacy partners, government representatives, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate meaningful relationships within local communities to build trust and increase program visibility.

  • Organize grassroots campaigns, public events, and community initiatives focused on key advocacy issues.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, ensuring high levels of engagement and effectiveness.

  • Strategically implement outreach plans using both in-person and digital tools.

  • Act as a liaison between the organization and advocacy groups, community leaders, and policymakers.

  • Represent The Consortium at meetings, community forums, and external events.

  • Track, monitor, and evaluate campaign outcomes for impact and compliance.

  • Ensure alignment with legal standards and nonprofit best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated experience in grassroots organizing, social advocacy, or nonprofit community engagement.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to inspire and lead teams of volunteers.

  • Familiarity with advocacy issues affecting NYC communities and current political/social dynamics.

  • Proficient in digital outreach and social media engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin (or other widely spoken NYC languages).

  • 5+ years of experience in grassroots/community organizing.

  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations in NYC.
