The Manager, Project Management, plays a vital role within the Project Delivery organization, responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and delivery of key projects that support operational and compliance objectives. This role involves managing project activities to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget, while adhering to quality and safety standards.

Given the global scope of Johnson & Johnson’s facilities, including manufacturing sites, laboratories, and offices—the Manager will leverage technical expertise and project management best practices to identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans. The role requires a strong focus on operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and safety, supporting the organization’s strategic priorities and ensuring successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Lead planning, execution, and closeout of multiple strategic and tactical construction and facility projects across the New Jersey region.
  • Ensure assigned project work is completed on time, within scope, and on budget; maintain accurate cost forecasts, change-order control, and variance analysis.
  • Own assigned site budgets and the delivery of committed financial targets; prepare and maintain detailed monthly and quarterly budget reports, monitors, and reconciliations.
  • Lead long-range financial planning for the region’s site construction and facilities portfolio, including multi-year capital forecasting, lifecycle and replacement planning, and prioritization of capital investments.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and site leadership to align budgets, funding requests, and governance approvals; drive timely submission of business cases and capital requests.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-control measures, value-engineering, and procurement strategies to optimize spend and protect budget commitments.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, compliantly with SOPs, local regulations, J&J policies, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with site leadership and cross-functional teams (Operations, EHS, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Facilities) to align project schedules with operational readiness and handover requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, scope, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage procurement and vendor performance for project scopes including scope definition, vendor selection, contracting, and change management.
  • Lead site inspections, progress meetings, quality assurance checks, and oversee punch list resolution through final acceptance.
  • Maintain complete and auditable project documentation: schedules, budgets, safety records, permits, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.
  • Report project status, KPIs, and financial performance to regional and functional leadership.
     

Education

Education & Experience
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management from an accredited institution required
     

Experience, Skills And Knowledge
 

  • 5 years or more of relevant experience in engineering, project management, or manufacturing, with a focus on operational excellence and team leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint required
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes in FDA-regulated environments, including design, startup, and operational phases..
  • Experience with financial management related to project or operational budgets, resource planning, and forecasting.
  • Familiar with Front-End Loading Best Practices.
  • PMP Certification
