Responsibilities:

• Deep Understanding of Scrum Framework: Thorough knowledge of Scrum values, principles, practices, and roles.
• Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile frameworks and methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, and SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework]. The ability to adapt and blend practices based on the team's and organization's needs is crucial.
• Agile Metrics & Reporting: Ability to track and interpret key agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown charts, cycle time) to identify areas for improvement at USAA.
• Facilitation & Coaching Skills:
• Effective Facilitator: Proven ability to effectively facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective) and other team meetings.
• Coaching & Mentoring: Ability to coach and mentor engineering teams on agile principles and practices.
• Conflict Resolution: Skills in mediating disagreements and finding constructive solutions to conflicts within the team.
• Active Listening: Excellent listening skills to understand team members' concerns, needs, and perspectives.
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
• Excellent Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively with engineers, product owners, stakeholders, and management is essential.
• Technical Aptitude & Business Acumen:
• Technical Proficiency: While not necessarily a developer, a good Scrum Master should have a general understanding of software development processes and technologies.
• Impediment Removal & Problem-Solving
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve impediments that are blocking the team's progress.
