Description:
Tufts Medicine is seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Psychotherapist III (MSW-LICSW) to join its behavioral health team at its Malden, MA location. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on providing high-quality outpatient psychotherapy services and promoting patient welfare through mental health support. The ideal candidate will be deeply skilled in assessment, diagnostics, crisis intervention, and therapeutic treatment across a range of evidence-based models including CBT and DBT.
In this senior clinical role, you will provide direct mental health services, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, manage complex cases, and contribute to improving patient care outcomes. You will also mentor lower-level professionals, manage processes, and participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical consultations.
Conduct initial diagnostic assessments using DSM-V
Develop and update measurable and observable treatment plans
Deliver individual, couples/family, and group psychotherapy within a short-term model
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using SOAP format per LMH, CCS, and regulatory standards
Identify high-risk clients and review their progress monthly with supervisors and psychiatrists
Provide crisis intervention and respond to urgent care requests
Manage caseload efficiently, including taking on new clients as needed
Participate in utilization review processes required by insurers
Submit monthly performance statistics and participate in clinical team meetings
Provide 24-hour backup coverage and on-call support as scheduled
Participate in special projects, community benefit programs, and clinical consultations
Attend and participate in monthly chart reviews, clinical supervisions, and CEU-based continuing education
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or PhD in related field from an accredited institution
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) certification
Minimum 5 years of experience providing outpatient psychotherapy to adult clients
Proficient in CBT, DBT, and treatment of individuals with dual diagnoses
Experience in facilitating group psychotherapy sessions
Familiarity with brief psychotherapy models
Deep knowledge of psychopharmacology and common psychiatric medications
Excellent critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams
Ability to remain calm and adaptable in high-pressure or emotionally complex situations
Knowledge of local community mental health and social support resources
Capable of handling feedback constructively and embracing continuous improvement
Frequent sitting with occasional walking/standing
Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs
Requires manual dexterity to use a computer keyboard and visual ability to read reports
