Quality Engineer

Description:

Akkodis is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a dynamic manufacturing team on a 7-month contract basis in Irvine, CA. The candidate will support quality assurance activities, process improvements, internal and external audits, and customer quality communications. The role demands close collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, and manufacturing to maintain high-quality standards aligned with aerospace industry requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain the Quality Management System based on ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D standards.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster positive customer experiences.

• Collaborate with engineering to ensure product designs meet quality requirements.

• Plan and perform internal quality audits, lead corrective actions, and follow through on audit results.

• Lead and facilitate quality teams and initiatives.

• Manage customer relations related to quality, including MRB (Material Review Board) and RMA (Return Material Authorization) issues.

• Monitor and drive key quality metrics such as DPPM (Defects Per Million), OTD (On-Time Delivery), Cost of Quality, Customer Scorecards, Supplier Performance, and Contract Review.

• Act as an inspection liaison for sourcing.

• Travel to customer and supplier locations as required.

• Perform First Article Inspections and prepare FAIR reports according to AS9102.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering required.

• Minimum 3 years aerospace industry experience.

• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D Quality Management Systems.

• In-depth understanding of aerospace quality standards and specifications.

• Experienced in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and formal problem-solving methods.

• Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, contracts, purchase orders, and processing standards.

• Proficient with digital/analog measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, visual comparators).

• Experience with internal and external quality audits.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
