Quality Engineer

 

Description:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and enhancing the company’s quality management system. This includes the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for products and manufacturing processes. Quality Engineer plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting internal and external audits, managing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with ISO9001, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and customer issues.
  • Coordinate and chair Material Review Board (MRB) meetings.
  • Review and disposition non-conforming materials and customer complaints.
  • Develop and maintain process control plans, control charts, and inspection documentation (visual aids, work instructions, etc.).
  • Conduct and support internal audits to ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
  • Ensure effective communication between quality, production, engineering, sales, and customers.
  • Review contracts, POs, and customer requirements for inclusion in quality plans.
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics and KPIs.
  • Support APQP and submit PPAP packages per customer requirements.
  • Perform First Article Inspections per AS9102 and support documentation review.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits and support source inspections.
  • Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a Quality Engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in ISO9001 and AS9100 quality systems.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience preparing/reviewing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
  • Experience with PPAP, APQP, SPC, Gage R&R, capability studies, and corrective action tools (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with quality software/tools is a plus.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with NADCAP, ITAR, or other industry-specific standards.
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, or defense manufacturing environments.
