Quality Engineering Manager

Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company (PacSci EMC), part of Ralliant Corporation (NYSE: RAL), is seeking an experienced and dynamic Quality Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing quality initiatives at its Chandler, Arizona facility. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for developing and implementing quality strategies, managing a team of skilled engineers, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to ensure the highest quality standards across all products.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers, cultivating a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Develop and execute quality strategies that align with company objectives and manufacturing goals.

  • Drive continuous process improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and FBS (Fortive Business System) methodologies.

Quality Management

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate quality activities to ensure compliance with product and industry standards.

  • Oversee creation and maintenance of quality documentation and ensure traceability across all production stages.

  • Conduct audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with design engineering, planning, and production departments to maintain product integrity.

  • Act as the primary liaison for internal and external quality issues, customer audits, and corrective actions.

Problem Solving

  • Investigate internal and external quality concerns, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions using 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis.

Process Improvement

  • Identify process gaps and drive implementation of control systems and inspection standards.

  • Utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools to enhance efficiency and reduce variability.

Supplier Quality and Data Analysis

  • Support Supplier Development Engineering to ensure vendors meet hardware and material standards.

  • Analyze manufacturing data and prepare detailed reports for management and customer review.

Customer Interaction

  • Interface directly with customers for quality documentation, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and delivery order verification.

Operational Involvement

  • Participate actively in daily production meetings and spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, ensuring direct oversight of quality control processes.


Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years in manufacturing or quality engineering roles.

  • At least 3–5 years in a management or leadership position.

  • Experience in Electronics or Ordnance manufacturing, including use of energetic materials, powders, or propellants, is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and statistical software tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven mindset.

  • Familiarity with IPC-610 and J-STD-001 standards preferred.

  • Competency in APQP, D/PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP methodologies.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (ASQ certification a plus).

  • Experience supporting internal, customer, and registrar audits.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, due to U.S. Government export control regulations and national security contracts (THAAD PRIME Flowdowns).

  • Must be able to obtain necessary government export authorizations.
