Radiology Technician

Bon Secours Mercy Health is actively seeking a Radiology Technician (X-Ray Tech) to join its urgent care facility located in Hollins, Roanoke, VA. This full-time, on-site position offers an excellent opportunity for an ARRT-certified radiologic technologist to provide diagnostic imaging and clinical assistance in a high-demand healthcare setting.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting radiologic examinations, supporting clinical procedures, and maintaining a strong commitment to patient safety, quality care, and operational excellence. The role also includes administrative and medical assistant duties essential to urgent care efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform digital X-ray studies per provider orders, ensuring proper patient positioning, immobilization, and radiation protection.

• Set up and adjust imaging and support equipment according to patient needs and examination type.

• Maintain high safety standards while handling and positioning patients.

• Document all patient interactions and radiographic procedures accurately in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record).

• Safeguard radiographic equipment and patients by selecting appropriate electronic and technical factors.

• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care lab testing as necessary.

• Maintain sterile techniques and infection control protocols to prevent cross-contamination.

• Promptly report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.

• Assist in various urgent care operational duties including:

  • Ordering lab and medical supplies

  • Scheduling appointments

  • Patient check-in/check-out

  • Cash handling

  • Phone triage

  • Scribing as required

Licensing & Certification Requirements:

• ARRT Certification – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Required)

• State Radiologic Technologist License – Preferred (as applicable by state)

• BLS – Basic Life Support (Preferred at time of hire, required before direct patient care)

Education Requirements:

• Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited institution (Preferred)

Preferred Experience & Training:

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in radiation safety and patient care

• Familiarity with Radiology Information Systems (RIS)

• Working knowledge of EPIC Electronic Health Records (EHR)

• Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)

• One year of Medical Assisting experience (Preferred)
