Boston Medical Center (BMC), New England’s largest trauma and safety net hospital, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Mother Baby Department. The Mother Baby/Post-Partum Unit and Newborn Nursery nurses provide couplet care to mothers and newborns after delivery, ensuring families are set up for success in their first few days. Nurses in this department play a vital role in supporting families physically and emotionally while promoting safe and high-quality care practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient/family education.

  • Provide patient-centered care to mothers and newborns using evidence-based practices.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Coordinate, manage, and delegate patient care activities.

  • Maintain and update patient records accurately and efficiently.

  • Utilize computerized systems for patient information and clinical documentation.

  • Support department leadership in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to BMC’s nursing policies, procedures, and standards of excellence.

Job Requirements:

  • Active RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Minimum of 6 months RN Mother Baby experience.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units.

  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred). BSN must be obtained within 4 years if not already held.

  • Relevant specialty certifications preferred depending on unit.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic computer proficiency required.

  • Fluency in another language is an asset.

  • Physical ability to perform job responsibilities.
