Registered Nurse

Description:

Ochsner Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for its Emergency Medicine department at Jefferson Highway. The RN will act as a leader in the provision of patient care, utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. This role involves delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver high-quality patient care.

• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for diverse patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing resources effectively.

• Use data and knowledge to evaluate and promote improvements for optimal outcomes.

• Adapt behavior to patient population needs, respecting privacy and communication preferences.

• Perform additional duties as required, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, and accreditation standards.

Education & Certifications:

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Current RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS).

• Within 90 days: ACLS and PALS certifications; CPI Certification within 30 days of hire.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Certification in Clinical Specialty Area.

• Effective organizational and time management skills.

• Good judgment, interpersonal skills, and self-direction.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50–100 pounds occasionally and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.

• Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential communicable diseases.

• Occupational exposure to hazardous medications and waste in the healthcare setting.
