As an RN in Med/Surg/Telemetry, you will act as a leader in the provision of patient care, utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. You will be responsible for effectively delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members, while ensuring accountability for quality patient outcomes. This role demands sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, professional responsibility, and commitment to organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process.

  • Assess patient and family learning needs, implementing appropriate teaching strategies.

  • Communicate and delegate effectively, serving as a leader and partner within the interdisciplinary care team.

  • Use data, knowledge, and evidence-based practices to evaluate and drive improvements for optimal patient outcomes.

  • Promote customer satisfaction, employee morale, and continuous professional improvement.

  • Adapt communication and behavior to diverse patient populations, respecting privacy and cultural differences.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies and accreditation standards.

  • Perform duties requiring exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases in a patient-care setting.

  • Fulfill responsibilities that may involve physical demands, including lifting, standing, and working at a production pace.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications:

  • Required: Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

  • Preferred: Certification in a clinical specialty area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in computer systems, software, and web-based applications.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, leadership, and teamwork.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Heavy work: ability to exert 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, and 10–20 lbs constantly.

  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, hazardous waste, and communicable diseases.

  • Work involves direct patient interaction and activities in a healthcare environment.
