Mercy Hospital South is currently hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Weekend Option – Cardiac Stepdown / Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU). This full-time opportunity allows nurses to play a vital role in providing high-quality cardiac care to post-operative and critical cardiovascular patients in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The CVPCU is a 32-bed progressive care unit specializing in post-operative cardiovascular and thoracic patients, as well as those with acute or chronic cardiac conditions. The ideal candidate is compassionate, skilled in critical thinking, and capable of making quick, sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced unit.

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
Provide direct patient care to individuals with conditions such as congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, STEMI, and pulmonary complications.
Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, physicians, and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure positive patient outcomes and safe discharges.
Utilize advanced clinical judgment to respond to emergencies and changing patient conditions promptly.
Maintain accurate patient documentation and uphold all nursing standards of practice.
Participate in continuing education and contribute to a learning environment within the unit.
Education & Licensure:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
Must hold and maintain a current RN license for the state of Missouri or a valid compact nursing license.
Must comply with all state nursing board requirements.
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or to be completed within 30 days of hire.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
Additional unit-specific certifications may be required within defined timelines.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods during shifts.
Must be physically capable of gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting as needed to provide patient care.
Sign-On Bonus: Up to USD 10,000 for experienced nurses (eligible departments).
Weekend Differential Pay: Additional USD 20/hour for RNs and USD 15/hour for LPNs.
Stay Premium Program: Up to USD 8/hour based on years of Mercy service.
Tuition Reimbursement: Up to USD 2,000 per year for continuing education.
