OVERVIEW Tampico PSH is a 32-unit permanent supportive housing community that wil serve transition-age youth (ages 18-24) who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. The development wi l transform the previous Tampico Motel into fu ly-furnished studio apartments and onsite amenities such as a fitness center, community lounge, and pet area. Onsite case management wi l be provided by Orangewood Foundation, a leading service provider for youth across Orange County. The design of the development is intended to provide a place residents are proud to ca l "home." To this end, the development features two civic art pieces that wi l help create a sense of belonging for future residents and enhance the surrounding community. GOALS AND LOCATION OF ARTWORK The civic art piece should celebrate the culture and values of the City of Anaheim while embracing the context of the surrounding community. The development is located at 151 S. Cenpla Way and is in close proximity to the downtown area core, referred to as Center City, and entertainment and amusement destinations of the Anaheim Resort. The proposed locations of the civic art piece are: 1) Wal along the South property line on Building 1, the larger of the two buildings. 2) Wal along the West property line on Building 2, the smaler of the two buildings. See Appendix A Rendering. BUDGET The total budget for Artist Creative Services is $27,500; $22,500 includes design renders, on-site creative production, assistant labor, any necessary permits, and all materials and equipment. An added $5,000 is to support thorough outreach and incorporate findings into the design. Payment distribution will be structured to support the art implementation process.
ELIGIBILITY This opportunity is open to all artists, but preference will be given to those who live in the City of Anaheim and/or have cultural and historic ties in or surrounding areas. Artists who have not had permanent public art project experience are encouraged to apply in artist teams with the appropriate experience. The individual artist, collective, or arts organization applying must have prior experience or be able to demonstrate the capability of leading a community-engaged process.
