Research Associate For Human Factors And Human

Description:

We are seeking a research associate who will focus on human factors and human-machine interaction in design and manufacturing processes. You will be expected to execute research and develop projects with responsibilities including, but not limited to: operating hybrid manufacturing systems and computer-aided manufacturing software, developing Institutional Review Board approved human-subjects research. As part of our research team, you will quantify the current complexity of hybrid manufacturing and use that information to influence the next generation of machine operators, interface design, machine learning, and design for hybrid manufacturing. You are expected to collaborate across teams focused on research in additional manufacturing areas. This position resides in the Manufacturing Systems Design Group in the Manufacuring Sciences Division of the Energy Science and Technology Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

• Conduct research into quantifying human-machine interactions for complex manufacturing processes
• Assess the impact of human factors in hybrid manufacturing processes
• Use that information to quantify and develop repositories of designer/operator knowledge
• Advance efforts towards process efficiency and minimizing loss of design intent from designer to operator.
