Description:
Hannaford Supermarkets, established in 1883, is seeking motivated individuals to join their Retail Management Training (RMT) program, a comprehensive three-year leadership development program designed to fast-track young professionals into management roles within the company. Hannaford emphasizes connections with local farmers and sustainable practices, reflecting their commitment to community and quality.
The RMT program offers in-depth exposure to all aspects of supermarket operations, combining technical training and leadership development. Trainees will work closely with experienced department managers, store managers, and corporate leaders. The program is structured to develop both operational skills and leadership acumen, preparing participants for roles as store managers, specialists, or corporate office positions after completion.
Program Structure:
Year 1: Intensive exposure to retail operations across multiple departments including Produce, Deli & Kitchen, Bakery, Seafood, Meat, Center Store, Pharmacy, Front End, Hannaford to Go, and Associate Relations.
Years 2 & 3: Practical experience as an Assistant Store Manager, applying skills learned and gaining management experience.
Rotational Training: Trainees rotate through various stores and departments, guided by mentors to provide broad exposure to the grocery business.
Learning & Development: Participation in peer learning groups, corporate workshops, and mentorship programs to strengthen leadership and business knowledge.
Strategic Projects: Engagement in 6-month projects addressing critical company priorities, with presentations to top leadership. Additional project opportunities in years 2-3 allow cross-functional experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (minimum GPA 3.0 preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
Demonstrated leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and financial analysis capabilities
Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
Adaptability, proactive attitude, and ability to thrive in fast-paced team environments
