Retail Parts Specialist

Description:

O’Reilly Auto Parts is seeking a Parts Specialist to join its Ontario, CA location. This role is focused on delivering exceptional service to both retail and installer customers, ensuring each interaction meets the company’s high standards of professionalism and accuracy. The Parts Specialist will assist with customer inquiries, help in selecting parts, and support the management team in executing daily operational tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist walk-in customers in a professional, courteous manner, helping them select appropriate automotive parts and products.

• Provide excellent service over the phone by looking up parts accurately, quoting prices, and recommending related items and premium options.

• Manage cash handling processes, including accepting payments, making change, and processing credit card transactions securely.

• Handle product exchanges and returns efficiently, following company policies and ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Participate in in-store operations such as restocking, maintaining displays, cleaning, and organizing merchandise.

• Operate store equipment, including brake lathes and testing tools, after completing necessary training.

• Perform light vehicle services (where legally permitted), such as installing wipers, testing and charging batteries, scanning vehicle codes, and replacing headlights.

• Occasionally drive company delivery vehicles to make parts deliveries when needed, adhering to company driving eligibility requirements.

• Follow and promote company programs such as Hi-5, Low Price Guarantee, Rock the Call, and Related Selling to enhance customer experience.

• Support inventory control tasks, including monthly stock adjustments, freight handling, and cycle counts.

• Assist management in meeting daily operational goals and provide feedback to improve service efficiency.

Skills and Requirements:

Required:

• Ability to accurately match alphanumeric sequences and multitask effectively.

• Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.

Desired:

• Knowledge of automotive parts, cataloging systems, or previous experience in automotive retail or service.

• ASE certification.

• Fluency in multiple languages, especially Spanish.
