Risk Control Consultant

 

Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Risk Control Consultant based in the Northeast U.S. who brings deep expertise in insurance risk control, safety program development, and captive insurance programs. You’ll work closely with our clients and internal team to assess risk, develop tailored strategies, and help insureds improve performance across a variety of industries — especially construction and manufacturing.

This position offers the flexibility to operate with a high level of independence, freedom to manage your own schedule, and potential for profit-sharing opportunities based on performance and contribution.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Risk Control Assessments for captive insurance members or prospective captive insurance members.
  • Conduct on-site and virtual risk control surveys, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Develop and deliver client-specific safety recommendations, reports, and training.
  • Support captive insurance program objectives through data analysis, benchmarking, and client coaching.
  • Assist clients in improving loss performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Track client progress, analyze trends, and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Build strong, consultative relationships with business owners, safety professionals, and leadership teams.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and captive program reviews as needed.
  • Coordinate risk control and safety consulting services.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance risk control, safety consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong background in captive insurance programs and loss-sensitive insurance models.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and industry best practices (construction, manufacturing, etc.).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly responsive, professional, and solutions-oriented.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple clients and priorities.
  • Willingness to travel regionally along the East Coast; expected travel is 25%.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, ARM, CIH, CHST) a plus.
