ST Engineering – Mobile Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking a Safety and Environmental Technician to join its Pensacola, FL facility. This role is integral in ensuring safety and environmental compliance across the organization. The technician will assist in maintaining hazardous waste streams, conducting safety and environmental audits, responding to emergencies, and supporting a culture of workplace safety.

As a Safety and Environmental Technician, you will work closely with the Lead Safety & Environmental and the Manager Safety & Environmental to uphold all applicable safety and environmental policies, standards, and regulatory codes. This role is ideal for individuals with strong attention to detail, basic problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to industrial safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining safety and environmental compliance through audits and enforcement of policies, procedures, and standards.

• Respond to workplace accidents, injuries, hazardous spills, and chemical releases.

• Participate in investigations related to accidents and hazardous incidents.

• Perform monthly inspections of portable fire bottles and emergency eyewash stations.

• Assist in conducting respirator fit tests, GSE practical training, and installation of fall protection reels.

• Manage hazardous waste loading, labeling, and disposal including paint shop waste, oil, and fuel drums.

• Support operation of wastewater effluent treatment systems.

• Act as a representative during regulatory on-site audits.

• Support employee orientation, safety training, and related compliance activities.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.

• Certifications: Ability to obtain DOT/IATA and OSHA general HAZMAT and safety certifications within 90 days of employment.

• Experience: Minimum 1 year in safety, environmental, or hazardous waste handling.

• Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Strong writing and computer skills

  • Basic understanding of safety and environmental regulations (29 CFR Labor standards)

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and wear a respirator without restrictions.
