Sales Engineer

 

Description:

Advanced Research Systems sells scientific equipment (cryostats) to universities and government labs, primarily in physics, materials science, and electrical engineering departments. This position is responsible for technical discussions matching equipment to research goals, creating and maintaining customer relationships, and growing revenues in their territory. The Sales Engineer should also strongly communicate ARS product strengths, features, and competitive advantages in the market.

  • A full-time sales position based in the Lehigh Valley Area, PA
  • US Citizenship required for access to National Labs
  • B.S. or M.S. in a Natural Science
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capabilities
  • Willing to travel – 25% with flexibility
  • Trip duration up to two weeks
  • Able to work with teams of diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • A valid Passport is required, in anticipation of international travel
  • Experimental Research experience using cryostats and/or the following fields
  • Accelerator Physics
  • Materials Science
  • Quantum Materials
  • MEMs/NEMs design and testing
  • Prior sales experience buying or selling laboratory instruments
  • Consult and assist the customer in configuring their ideal instrument
  • Learn about the customer’s experiment and its impact on the cryostat’s configuration
  • Serve as a source of information to customers about ARS products
  • Timely generation of quotes and account management
  • Maintain all customer communications with accurate and detailed notes in a CRM
  • Negotiate pricing and payment terms to maintain healthy margins
  • Complete and submit tenders for final sales agreement
  • Advocate for the customer during the administrative and manufacturing processes
  • Present ARS products at tradeshows and on-site meetings
  • Provide feedback to the ARS team on trends in research and competitors
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner, working in the highest levels of academic research
  • Report weekly sales forecast and evaluations of customer demands
  • Support the needs of existing customers and proactively network
  • Contribute to ARS’ knowledge base and outbound marketing efforts
  • Enthusiastic about science and experimental research in materials and physics
  • Proactive, determined, and maintains a high activity level for growth and brand-awareness
  • Eager to learn about new applications, trends in the field, and spread this knowledge within ARS
  • Outward going personality; comfortable with approaching new people
  • Disciplined, structured, self-driven, and process-oriented to independently maintain sales metrics
  • Willing to develop new skills and business etiquette to improve professionally
  • Negotiation abilities that will highlight value and maintain healthy margins
  • A strong interest in experimental techniques and equipment
  • Happy to work with a global mindset, in diverse cultures and backgrounds
