Description:
Sales & Project Consultant: Lab Equipment & Infrastructure
Location: Columbus, OH
Employment Type: Full-time
We're a fast-growing, founder-led company building safer labs across the country, and we're looking for a hungry, self-motivated salesperson who wants to grow with us.
About Us
Specialty Solutions supplies critical lab equipment for biotech and pharmaceutical facilities: fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, humidity chambers, ovens, chillers, ultra-low freezers, and stainless systems, backed by mechanical installation and project management services.
We're not a catalog distributor. We're a team of engineers and chemists, and our clients rely on our insight during facility layout, planning, and execution. Compliance and consulting come first.
Founded in 2022, we've grown fast, with consistent year-over-year sales growth and a top 5
global dealer ranking with Labconco Corporation. As labs, cleanrooms, GMP facilities, and
renovations across the U.S. face growing needs and compliance demands, we're expanding our
Columbus sales team to support regional and national opportunities.
Role:
Sales
• Identify and win new business across life science, lab infrastructure, and manufacturing facilities
• Sell consultatively. Guide clients through equipment selection, technical needs, and phased procurement tied to buildouts or renovations
• Engage lab planners, facilities leads, operations managers, and project engineers throughout the buying process
• Own full-cycle deals from proposal to post-installation follow-up
• Drive proactive outbound: cold email, cold calls, and targeted prospecting sequences to open new opportunities
• Build a strong top-of-funnel pipeline by researching ideal accounts and getting first conversations started
• Use CRM tools to track activity, prioritize leads, and keep deals moving
Project Management & Client Coordination
• Develop and manage detailed project plans in our CRM and accounting software
• Estimate costs across project phases and keep them aligned with the client's budget
• Monitor timelines, logistics, and install readiness to ensure smooth delivery
• Serve as the client's primary point of contact through the full project lifecycle
• Align with construction timelines, funding rounds, and permitting to stay ahead of client needs
• Prepare project and sales status reports for leadership
Culture
This is a startup environment. You'll wear multiple hats, move fast, and see the direct impact of your work on the company's growth. You'll also be given real autonomy to build your own book of business from day one.
Our best people act like owners. They spot opportunities we haven't seen, invest their own time in getting better, and bring ideas to the table instead of waiting for direction. That's the standard here. We're looking for someone who is:
• An owner, not an employee. You take pride in the work, treat the company's growth like your own, and take initiative without being asked
• Sharp and prepared. You do your homework before every call, learn the technical side fast, and jump into relationship-building with real substance behind you
• Determined. You're strong-willed, not easily discouraged, and can take a "no" without losing momentum. This industry rewards persistence
• Ready to earn it. Seats at the table here are earned through results, not given. If you want a path to management, we'll build it with you, and you'll work for it
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in science, chemistry, engineering, or construction
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years in capital equipment sales, lab environments, or infrastructure project coordination
• Experience with solution-based selling and multi-stakeholder decisions (facilities, procurement, ops, engineering)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• CRM and project software experience
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally or nationally
