Description:
Excelra, a global leader in biopharma data and analytics, is looking for a (Senior) Computational Biologist (Scientific Manager) to join its Boston office. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility to work from home while occasionally visiting clients on-site in Cambridge.
The selected candidate will play a key role in driving computational biology projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across biology, IT, chemistry, and statistics. This role requires both technical expertise in computational biology tools and techniques and strong project management and communication skills to deliver actionable insights to clients.
✅ Independently plan, execute, and manage computational projects, ensuring alignment with client and internal expectations.
✅ Analyze large-scale biological datasets using R/Python.
✅ Apply expertise in areas like RNAseq, single-cell analysis, spatial transcriptomics, and sequencing data analysis.
✅ Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements and translate scientific questions into computational approaches.
✅ Summarize and present findings to clients and leadership teams.
✅ Act as a mentor for junior team members, providing constructive technical feedback and guiding their professional growth.
✅ Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality deliverables within defined timelines.
✅ Identify new opportunities within ongoing and prospective projects.
✔️ PhD in Bioscience Engineering, Bioinformatics, Statistical Data Analysis, or related fields.
✔️ 3+ years of industry experience in computational biology projects.
✔️ Strong hands-on expertise in RNAseq, single-cell analysis, spatial transcriptomics, WES/WGS, and methylation sequencing.
✔️ Advanced programming skills in R/Python and comfortable working with Linux command line.
✔️ Excellent understanding of statistics and experimental design.
✔️ Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
✔️ Ability to mentor junior colleagues and foster team growth.
✔️ Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
✔️ Eligible to work and live in the USA.
