EY (Ernst & Young), one of the world’s leading professional services firms, is seeking a US Seasonal Indirect Tax Manager to support its high-performing tax team during the peak filing season. This on-site role in Birmingham, AL, also offers full remote flexibility across the U.S., allowing professionals to contribute without relocation or travel.

In this role, the Seasonal Tax Manager will play a crucial part in reviewing complex state income tax returns and managing state-level tax notices. This position is designed for professionals with a deep understanding of income/franchise tax processes, K-1 reviews, and corporate compliance, offering them a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative, remote-first environment with a globally respected firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review state income tax returns and extensions.

  • Analyze and resolve state and local tax notices.

  • Provide expert-level support to clients on corporate compliance matters.

  • Prepare and review partnership K-1 statements.

  • Utilize strategic prioritization to manage multiple complex tax engagements.

  • Work collaboratively within virtual teams and support peers across locations.

  • Conduct technical research and produce written analysis for complex tax scenarios.

  • Provide recommendations and solutions that align with state/local tax regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid US CPA license or active state bar membership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in state income tax—from public accounting, a corporate tax department, or a state tax authority.

  • Advanced professional knowledge in state/local income/franchise tax rules and procedures.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strategic focus and clarity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven record of excellence in professional tax or public accounting environments.

  • Experience working in high-performance, virtual team structures.

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate: $90 to $120

  • Equivalent Monthly Range: $15600 to $20800

  • Overtime eligible

  • Actual pay based on experience, skills, education, and location.
