Description:

A small, mission-driven industry association based in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Accounting Associate to join its tight-knit and growing team. With approximately 20 employees and $15 million in annual revenue, the organization advocates on behalf of professionals across the structured finance and securitization markets.

This newly created role will support the Controller and take on a broad range of accounting responsibilities, including financial reporting, compliance, and system improvements. It’s ideal for someone with nonprofit experience who wants to move beyond purely operational accounting into a more strategic role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements and forecasts; assist with audit preparation
  • Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of Form 990 and state filings
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Handle routine transactions including A/P, A/R, and 1099s
  • Provide financial data to internal teams for planning and budgeting
  • Collaborate with vendors and assist with collections and light tax work
  • Maintain accurate records using Sage Intacct and ensure compliance across systems

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; nonprofit and/or small business experience preferred
  • CPA license required
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct (3+ years strongly preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; Salesforce experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
