Senior Audit Associate

Our client, a well-established CPA firm in the Clifton, NJ area, is seeking a Senior Audit Associate to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for hands-on client exposure, strong work-life balance, and the ability to work across audit, tax, and general accounting engagements rather than being siloed into one specialty area.

The firm serves closely held businesses and individuals across a variety of industries including real estate, construction, restaurants, healthcare/dental, and other small to mid-sized businesses.

Responsibilities:

• Perform audit, review, and compilation engagements for privately held clients

• Prepare financial statements, workpapers, and supporting documentation

• Work directly with clients on accounting and financial reporting matters

• Assist with planning and executing engagements from start to finish

• Support tax engagements during busy season as needed

• Gain exposure to bookkeeping and general accounting projects

• Mentor junior staff and collaborate closely with firm leadership

• Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines effectively

Qualifications:

• 3–6 years of public accounting experience

• Audit/assurance experience required

• CPA or CPA-track preferred

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation

• Experience working with closely held businesses preferred

• Familiarity with ProSystem Tax, Engagement, and/or Access is a plus

• Strong communication and organizational skills
