Senior Backend Java Engineer

Description:

HiPaaS Inc., a fast-growing and innovative technology company, is currently hiring a Senior Backend Java Engineer to help design, build, and scale distributed, event-driven backend systems. This is a contract-based opportunity open to qualified candidates based in the United States, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring three days per week on-site.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing robust microservices using modern Java frameworks and cloud technologies. You will work with cutting-edge tools and contribute to the engineering design and delivery of enterprise-grade software solutions tailored for large-scale deployments. You’ll be part of a collaborative and skilled team, delivering high-quality, maintainable code while leveraging test-driven and behavior-driven development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable backend components and microservices

• Design APIs (REST and GraphQL) and integrate with external/internal systems

• Implement event-driven patterns using Kafka and related technologies

• Write unit and integration tests using JUnit, TDD, and BDD practices

• Collaborate with DevOps to containerize applications using Docker and deploy via Kubernetes

• Maintain and optimize cloud-based services on Azure

• Secure applications using JWT and OAuth

• Work in an Agile environment and participate in code reviews and planning sessions

Required Skills:

• Programming Languages & Frameworks: Java, Spring Boot, Spring FX

• Testing & Development: JUnit, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) using Cucumber-JVM

• API & Integration: REST APIs, GraphQL

• Architecture: Kafka, Event-driven systems

• Security: JWT, OAuth

• Databases: MongoDB or DynamoDB

• DevOps & Cloud: Docker, Kubernetes, Azure

• Tools: Mac OS-based development environment
