Description:
SLC Management, a global asset management firm and subsidiary of Sun Life, is seeking a Managing Director, U.S. Business Development to drive growth across its institutional investor channels in the United States. The firm provides diversified investment solutions with over US$286 billion in assets under management, serving more than 1,400 institutional clients.
This senior distribution role focuses primarily on investment grade public and private fixed income, while collaborating with other SLC teams to support the broader distribution strategy. The Managing Director will lead U.S. business development initiatives, working directly with prospects, consultants, and internal stakeholders to grow the firm’s market presence and revenue.
Market Segmentation & Prospecting:
Partner with the business development team to create and execute a strategic sales plan.
Build and nurture relationships with institutional investors, consultants, and industry partners.
Raise awareness of SLC’s investment solutions through targeted prospecting activities.
Sales & Revenue Growth:
Own the full sales cycle, from market analysis and RFP management to meetings and follow-up.
Collaborate with the Client Relationships team to identify cross-selling opportunities.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients and consultants.
Collaboration & Team Development:
Partner with internal teams including product management, portfolio management, marketing, and client solutions.
Mentor and develop junior team members to strengthen overall team capabilities.
Market Presence & Brand Building:
Represent SLC Management in-person, through presentations, and via media to enhance the firm’s visibility.
Maintain deep knowledge of the investment landscape, competitor strategies, and market trends.
Product Expertise:
Develop and maintain expertise across SLC’s full range of products, including Fixed Income and Real Assets.
Education & Licensing: FINRA Series 7 license (or willingness to obtain within 90 days), CFA designation preferred or in progress
Experience: 10+ years in business development, client relationships, or financial services with institutional investors and consultants
Skills:
Proven track record in institutional marketing and business growth
Strong fixed income knowledge, investment grade private credit preferred
Exceptional communication, presentation, and strategic thinking abilities
Emotional intelligence and relationship management skills
Project management and ability to execute from start to finish
Other: Willingness to travel regularly for client meetings and industry events
Base Salary: $171,500 – $278,500 per year
