Senior Business Development Specialist

Description:

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Business Development Analyst to become the architect of our growth. This is not a traditional sales role; it is a hybrid position where data, market intelligence, and strategic planning drive revenue. You will be responsible for identifying the most profitable market opportunities, qualifying leads with surgical precision, and providing our sales and leadership team with the intelligence needed to win high-value contracts. Your work will directly dictate where we focus our resources for maximum return, ensuring we are the most informed and effective bidder in the market.

Key Responsibilities

· Market Intelligence & Analysis:

· Conduct in-depth research on key verticals: Geothermal (GHX), Oil & Gas support, Industrial Manufacturing, Data Centers, and Municipal Water.

· Track and analyze upcoming large-scale projects through construction databases, public records, and industry reports (e.g., Dodge Data & Analytics, HBW).

· Monitor federal, state, and local grant programs and incentives (e.g., for geothermal) to identify funded projects.

· Develop a deep understanding of regional geology and its impact on drilling feasibility and cost.

· Lead Generation & Qualification:

· Use data-driven methods to build a comprehensive database of key decision-makers: Mechanical Engineering (MEP) firms, E&P companies, water management firms, large developers, and plant facility managers.

· Qualify leads based on project scope, timeline, budget, and decision-making process, creating a prioritized "Target List" for the sales team.

· Prepare detailed dossiers on key prospects and upcoming bid opportunities.

· Bid & Proposal Strategy Support:

· Analyze historical bid data and project outcomes to recommend optimal pricing strategies.

· Research competitors: their capabilities, capacity, and pricing to identify our competitive advantages.

· Assist in the preparation of compelling, data-rich proposals and pre-qualification packages.

· CRM & Pipeline Management:

· Implement, manage, and be the power-user of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).

· Track the entire sales pipeline, from initial lead to closed deal, providing regular forecasts and insights to leadership.

· Analyze pipeline metrics to identify bottlenecks and improve the sales process.

· Strategic Planning:

· Produce regular reports on market trends, sales performance, and new opportunities.

· Help develop and execute the company's 1-year and 5-year strategic growth plans.

Required Qualifications & Skills

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, or a related analytical field.

· 3+ years of experience in a business development, market research, financial analysis, or strategic planning role. Experience in the drilling, construction, engineering, or energy sectors is a massive advantage.

· Exceptional analytical and data interpretation skills. Must be proficient in transforming raw data into actionable insights.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, Charts) and PowerPoint.

· Experience with CRM software and a strong aptitude for learning new tech platforms.

· Superior research skills and a natural curiosity for "finding the story" within the data.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear and compelling reports and presentations.
