The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Institute of Human Virology (IHV), is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Clinical Research Assistant to support the Research Initiative for Infectious Disease and Substance Use (RIIS), specifically for the CHOICE team. This position plays a crucial role in facilitating clinical research, coordinating patient visits, ensuring compliance with research protocols, and managing data collection for studies focused on infectious diseases and substance use.

Coordinate and facilitate clinical research visits and manage patient data collection in compliance with study protocols.
Support clinical trial operations, including start-up activities, scheduling patient visits, and preparing visit materials.
Assist in preparing and maintaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) and HIPAA protocols, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
Manage IRB documentation, including amendments, continuing reviews, and adverse event reporting.
Collect, verify, and organize research data such as medical records, laboratory results, diagnostic findings, and visit notes.
Conduct and assist in data analysis and interpretation, generating statistical reports using software such as SAS, STATA, or SPSS.
Support the preparation of grants, manuscripts, abstracts, and research presentations.
Perform literature searches and develop databases to track and manage research data efficiently.
Coordinate the development and improvement of research protocols, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Maintain effective communication with study participants, clinical staff, and research teams regarding study-specific procedures and updates.
Ensure adherence to all ethical, regulatory, and institutional standards governing human subjects research.
Participate in audits, monitoring visits, and quality assurance activities as needed.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field (such as Biology, Public Health, or Clinical Research).
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical research or a related field within an academic or healthcare setting.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis (30 undergraduate credits = 1 year of experience).
In-depth understanding of clinical research procedures, data collection methods, and IRB/HIPAA compliance.
Proficiency in research software (SAS, STATA, SPSS) and data management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate and present research findings.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

Salary Range: $57,000 – $64,000 annually ($4,750 – $5,333 monthly, depending on experience and education).
