EY (Ernst & Young) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Consultant specializing in Digital Lab Transformation for the Life Sciences sector, focusing on Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and lab modernization initiatives. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work with leading biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients, helping them enhance lab operations, compliance, and digital transformation strategies.
The position involves leading complex implementations, designing technical solutions, and managing end-to-end digital lab transformation projects. The ideal candidate is expected to possess strong experience in lab operations, LIMS/ELN/LES systems, data integration, and digital transformation in a regulated Life Sciences environment.
Digital Lab Strategy & Transformation: Design and execute digital lab transformation strategies, aligning with clients’ broader digital and operational goals.
Technical Solution Architecture: Develop technical solution designs and lead technical conversations with Life Sciences clients to ensure alignment between lab operations and digital capabilities.
LIMS Implementation: Drive end-to-end implementation of LIMS (LabWare, LabVantage) and related systems such as ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook) and LES (Laboratory Execution Systems).
Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process automation, optimization, and modernization in lab environments to improve data integrity, efficiency, and compliance.
Governance, Risk & Compliance: Implement and maintain governance frameworks, control points, and risk management processes to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Project Leadership: Manage large-scale projects including resource allocation, deliverable tracking, and stakeholder communication, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Financial & Strategic Planning: Advise clients on budgeting, financial planning, and cost optimization strategies within their digital lab transformations.
Stakeholder Management: Engage with C-suite and Director-level stakeholders, presenting complex concepts clearly and providing actionable insights.
Team Leadership: Lead diverse teams of consultants and technical professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development support.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the Life Sciences and digital transformation fields to deliver forward-thinking solutions.
Strong understanding of Life Sciences regulatory frameworks and GxP compliance.
Proven expertise in LIMS, ELN, and Lab Automation Systems.
Hands-on programming experience (Python, LabWare LIMS Basic, SQL).
Experience in instrument integration (file/API connections) and enterprise system integration (ERP, middleware, cloud apps).
Proficiency in managing project economics, risk, and resource planning.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure high-quality client deliverables.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience implementing LabWare or LabVantage LIMS systems is highly preferred.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 3+ years in Life Sciences roles involving regulatory compliance, GxP business processes, or risk management.
3–5 years of hands-on experience with LIMS, ELN, or Lab Automation Systems implementation and management.
Competitive annual salary ranging from $93,600 to $154,500 (geographically adjusted up to $175,600 in select states).
