Senior Director Product Integrity

Johnson Outdoors, a global leader in innovative outdoor recreational products, is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Product Integrity to lead their global initiatives in product compliance, safety, and quality. This senior-level role is based in Alpharetta, GA, and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a company known for its iconic brands across fishing, watercraft, diving, and camping.

The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, oversee global compliance and quality initiatives, and lead a high-performing team responsible for ensuring that products consistently meet stringent quality and safety standards throughout their lifecycle. This role collaborates with R&D, legal, operations, and customer service to embed product integrity from concept through delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    Build and manage a global team; set and drive product integrity strategy aligned with business goals; collaborate with executive leadership on KPIs and risk management.

  • Product Compliance:
    Ensure adherence to global regulatory standards (UL, CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH, etc.); act as liaison with certification and regulatory agencies; update policies as regulations evolve.

  • Quality Assurance & Control:
    Develop and implement quality metrics and standards; lead post-market surveillance, root cause analyses, and systemic issue resolution.

  • Product Safety:
    Conduct lifecycle safety risk assessments; lead incident investigations and corrective actions; foster a culture of safety across the company.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    Partner with R&D, manufacturing, and legal to ensure compliance is built into product design and development; represent product integrity at senior leadership meetings.

  • Training & Development:
    Mentor and upskill team members; promote continuous learning and compliance best practices.

  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    Analyze performance metrics, deliver executive reports, and maintain comprehensive documentation for compliance and QA procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead departmental budgeting and policy-making

  • Oversee staffing decisions, promotions, and team development

  • Conduct performance evaluations and resolve employee issues in partnership with HR

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree a plus

  • At least 10 years of relevant leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of global regulatory frameworks (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, Six Sigma, FMEA)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage product recalls, audits, and inspections

  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and project management capability

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
