Senior Level Linux Network Administrator

 

Description:

Cepeda is seeking a Senior Level Linux Network Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense Data Center (MDDC) in Huntsville, Alabama. The role involves the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of classified and unclassified systems and networks, ensuring compliance with MDA and DoD guidance. The ideal candidate will provide essential Linux system administration support, including working with vendors and other stakeholders to ensure the functionality of systems and networks supporting the MDDC program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, configure, and administer MDDC Program systems and networks for both classified and unclassified environments.

  • Provide essential Linux system administration support for hardware, both classified and unclassified.

  • Work with vendors to support Linux-based software installations and maintain system compliance.

  • Collaborate with Program Management, Information Assurance, and other teams to implement requirements for MDDC operations.

  • Provide technical guidance, instruction, and advice related to MDDC IT processes, ensuring compliance with MDA and DoD security standards.

  • Proactively address potential IT issues and implement preventive measures.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for IT processes and procedures.

  • Perform system backups, recoveries, and manage IT databases.

  • Lead and support junior staff in system administration tasks.

  • Assist with the maintenance, repairs, and processes for Government Furnished Equipment/Government Furnished Property (GFE/GFP).

  • Maintain an inventory of software and hardware resources.

Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required.

  • Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

  • Proven ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic enterprise environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and initiative in handling daily responsibilities.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the customer base.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Linux Administration, LAN/WAN, and network protocols (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, SMB).

  • Proficiency in RHEL and CentOS.

  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data entry.

Specific Skills Preferred:

  • Knowledge of MDA Test Activities.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification required.

  • IA certification as per DoD Instruction 8570.01M required.
