EY is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Manager – AI Strategy to join its growing AI & Data practice, specifically focusing on the Oil & Gas sector. This is a unique opportunity for a senior-level leader with deep expertise in artificial intelligence, quantitative modeling, and the energy value chain to drive large-scale AI transformation programs that deliver measurable business outcomes.
The Senior Manager will lead the development and delivery of enterprise AI strategies across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. The role will involve shaping operating models, establishing AI governance frameworks, implementing agentic and generative AI solutions, and guiding clients on responsible, scalable AI adoption. You will partner with senior stakeholders to envision and operationalize AI-enabled business transformation strategies, ensuring alignment with client objectives and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Strategy & Implementation:
Define and implement enterprise-wide AI strategies tailored to oil & gas value chains such as asset optimization, predictive maintenance, trading, and drilling.
Lead the design and delivery of AI governance frameworks ensuring responsible AI adoption, ethical data usage, and regulatory compliance.
Operationalize advanced AI solutions including Generative AI, Agentic AI, and quantitative modeling to support decision-making in complex environments.
Drive prioritization of AI initiatives based on ROI, feasibility, and risk.
Client & Engagement Leadership:
Lead high-impact client engagements with full responsibility for project quality, delivery, and risk management.
Build and manage strong client relationships, generating new opportunities and revenue growth.
Engage senior business and technology leaders to shape AI-enabled transformation strategies.
Deliver compelling presentations, thought leadership, and strategic recommendations to executives.
Team & Capability Development:
Lead cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, and consultants to deliver AI platforms and solutions.
Mentor, coach, and grow team capabilities in AI, MLOps, and data-driven consulting.
Drive internal innovation in Responsible AI, agentic workflows, and oil & gas industry solutions.
Technology & Solution Architecture:
Design hybrid AI architectures leveraging cloud-native environments (Azure, AWS, etc.).
Implement scalable ModelOps and MLOps practices ensuring transparency, reproducibility, and monitoring.
Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies (Generative AI, RAG, foundation models, autonomous agents) and integrate them into client solutions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of experience in consulting, digital transformation, or AI-driven business solutions.
5+ years in leadership roles managing AI/ML projects, teams, and client engagements.
Strong technical expertise in AI platforms, data architecture, quantitative modeling, and MLOps.
Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Spark, SQL, and cloud-native tools.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), MLFlow, and related frameworks.
Deep exposure to the oil & gas sector, including exploration, refining, trading, and predictive maintenance use cases.
Proven success in developing AI strategy, governance, and Responsible AI frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience leading AI initiatives within the energy sector.
Familiarity with ESG data, climate risk modeling, and energy regulatory frameworks.
Knowledge of agentic AI concepts and autonomous decision-making systems.
AI certifications from Microsoft, AWS, NVIDIA, Databricks, or equivalent.
Strong negotiation, change management, and executive influencing skills.
