Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer to support automated manufacturing operations within a highly regulated production environment. This role is responsible for driving equipment improvements, process optimization, validation activities, and operational excellence initiatives. The ideal candidate will provide technical supervision for automation projects, troubleshoot complex manufacturing systems, and collaborate with cross functional teams to improve quality, efficiency, compliance, and safety. This position also plays a key role in mentoring engineering personnel and supporting continuous improvement programs across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automation equipment upgrades related to safety, reliability, obsolescence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support equipment specification, acquisition, installation, and implementation activities.
- Troubleshoot machine logic, electromechanical systems, process controls, and manufacturing equipment issues.
- Root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of manufacturing failures.
- Conduct risk assessments and failure mode evaluations for manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Validation activities including testing, design of experiments, and data analysis.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, technical specifications, validation protocols, risk assessments, and operating procedures.
- Drive process improvements focused on quality enhancement, operational efficiency, and cost savings.
- Manage cross functional engineering projects and coordinate activities among multiple stakeholders.
- Support quality incident investigations and CAPA activities.
- Provide technical training, mentoring, and process expertise to engineers and maintenance personnel.
- Partner with project management teams to track milestones and support project execution.
- Support change management activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting manufacturing automation and process control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting experience with machine logic, electromechanical systems, and manufacturing equipment.
- Experience root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles, DMAIC methodology, or structured problem solving techniques.
- Experience with change management processes.
- Experience validation, testing, and process improvement activities.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
