Description:
This position reports to the Mfg. Process Physics and Virtual Validation team where the candidate will collaborate in conducting analysis to further the understanding of the physics behind critical manufacturing processes. This team uses FEA and analysis tools such as Hyperworks, Abaqus, Arena Flow, Mold Flow, Dante, Third Wave systems, Mach Pro, NX CAD, MatLab, among others. Analysis will range from assembly, machining, casting, heat treat, welding, high elongation elastic / ductility, material phase transformation and distortion prediction, computational fluid dynamics, among others. The right candidate will thrive in an environment of complex problems, and a high level of ambiguity. Task range from reactive problem solving directly supporting manufacturing and production, product validation, and preventive for evaluation designs and prediction of performance of future manufacturing systems. Additional Job Description Required: MASc or PhD in Mechanical or Materials Engineering Preferred: 5+ years of industry experience is preferred Knowledge of computer programing such as VBA, MatLab, and other equivalent logic. Aptitude and experience Finite Element Analysis Tools (Siemens NX, Third Wave Systems, Hyperworks, Abaqus, or similar tools) Able to construct models /designs in NX Aptitude for technical literature reviews. Strong knowledge and ability to run complex and innovative projects from inception and do so independently. Programing language experience and aptitude for programing Experience in design of experiments, use of analysis methods and equipment (sensor and data acquisition), and analysis of test data. Fundamental knowledge any of the following: cutting tools design and machining principles, and manufacturing processes. Strong aptitude and approachability to support and guide multiple manufacturing plant teams under complex problem solving.
