Senior Mechanical Engineer

Engtal is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering firm based in Greenwood Village, Colorado. This position serves as a leadership role within a growing engineering team and focuses on mechanical HVAC design for commercial retrofit projects. The successful candidate will collaborate across departments—including sales, operations, and client-facing teams—to implement high-performance solutions through building upgrades, operational enhancements, and control systems optimization.

Unlike traditional design roles, this is a client-centric position requiring a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and strategic problem-solving. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will play a key part in elevating building performance and energy efficiency, working hands-on in both the design and execution phases of commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead HVAC system design efforts and deliver stamped construction documents

• Conduct field verifications and site assessments to inform tailored design strategies

• Perform detailed load calculations and equipment selection

• Develop HVAC ductwork and piping layouts using AutoCAD and Revit MEP

• Coordinate with electrical, structural, and building automation teams to ensure design alignment

• Supervise and mentor junior engineering staff and manage project teams

• Support energy audits, building modeling, and system optimization initiatives

• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and client presentations

• Stay abreast of industry advancements, energy codes, and new technologies

• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado (required)

• Minimum 6 years of HVAC design experience, especially within the MEP market

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP

• In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, building energy codes, and commercial building operations

Compensation & Benefits:

• Annual Salary Range: $120000 – $150000 (Monthly: $10000 – $12500)
