Description:
An established engineering consultancy (name withheld) is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Project Engineer with experience in structural design and documentation for complex building structures. This position is ideal for an engineer with a strong technical background who is ready to take on leadership responsibilities while continuing to grow within a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing of commercial, institutional, and mission-critical buildings
- Manage the production of project documentation, including calculations, specifications, and reports
- Lead the selection of materials, structural systems, and configurations
- Collaborate closely with architects and engineering disciplines for fully coordinated project delivery
- Deliver construction support services such as reviewing submittals, answering RFIs, and conducting site observations
- Support quality control efforts, including peer reviews and mentoring of junior staff
- Develop internal technical training materials and participate in company committees
- Manage workload across multiple projects and ensure all deliverables are completed on time and within budget
- Support project planning, team coordination, and contribute to staff evaluations
Requirements:
- BS in Architectural or Civil Engineering (Structural focus required); MS preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering (may be reduced with advanced credentials)
- PE license required; SE license preferred
- Expertise in Bentley RAM or Tekla Structural Designer (TSD)
- Proficient in Revit and BIM 360
- Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and standards
- Experience working with steel, concrete (including post-tensioned), masonry, and wood
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
