Description:
SpaceX is actively seeking a highly skilled Sr. Propulsion Fluids Analyst to join the Raptor Engine Systems team in Hawthorne, CA. This role is crucial in supporting the development of cutting-edge propulsion technologies aimed at enabling human life on Mars. The analyst will focus on fluids, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and thermal analysis to optimize engine components, ensuring both reliability and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with propulsion engineers to perform fluids, CFD, and thermal analysis for engine development programs.
Proactively conducting analyses throughout the engine component design cycles.
Validating and verifying models with real-world test data.
Organizing and improving integrated system models.
Supporting the development and testing of flight hardware.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (required).
5+ years of professional experience in fluids, CFD, and thermal analysis.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
Expertise with CFD tools such as StarCCM+, ANSYS CFX.
Ability to run steady-state and transient CFD simulations using ideal and real-fluid equations.
Experience with conjugate heat transfer simulations and waterhammer modeling (SINDA/FLUINT or equivalent).
Strong understanding of liquid bipropellant rocket engine cycles and injector types.
Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for automation, scripting, and data post-processing.
Familiarity with NASA and industry standards.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to meet aggressive schedules.
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (green card holder), refugee, or asylee.
Annual salary: $125,000 – $175,000 (approx. $10,416 – $14,583 per month).
