Moderna’s Bioanalytical and Molecular Assay (BMA) team is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Associate to join their innovative bioanalytical LC-MS/MS group. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in regulated GLP/GCP bioanalytical environments, with strong experience in processing and analyzing a diverse range of molecules, including lipids, biomarkers, proteins, and peptides.
This role is critical in supporting method development, validation, and clinical sample analysis using LC/MS techniques. The position requires technical excellence, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a high-performance, fast-paced scientific environment that emphasizes innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
Develop, optimize, validate, and execute bioanalytical LC/MS methods for quantifying molecules such as lipids, biomarkers, and proteins (peptides).
Prepare study plans, bioanalytical methods, and study reports aligned with regulatory compliance and internal quality standards.
Perform bioanalytical assays according to established SOPs, adhering strictly to GLP/GCP guidelines.
Collaborate with external Contract Research Organizations (CROs) for method development, qualification, and validation; review and approve statements of work, protocols, and reports.
Partner with colleagues in Clinical Development and cross-functional scientific groups to ensure accurate data generation and interpretation.
Provide mass spectrometry support for internal R&D teams, contributing to ongoing clinical and platform projects.
Stay informed on current literature, regulatory expectations, and evolving standards in clinical bioanalysis to maintain compliance and innovation.
Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of demonstrated hands-on LC-MS method development experience.
Strong knowledge of sample preparation and extraction techniques (SPE, LLE, protein precipitation) from biological matrices.
Prior CRO experience is a plus.
Familiarity with high-throughput or automated systems (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan) for data processing and method implementation.
Experience working with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) for documentation and compliance.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with broader organizational objectives.
Must hold valid U.S. work authorization (no visa sponsorship available for this position).
Annual Salary Range: $74,000 – $118,400 (approx. $6,166 – $9,866 per month).
