Orbis Group is hiring on behalf of Charta, a venture-backed AI healthtech startup headquartered in San Francisco, for the role of Senior or Staff Software Engineer. Charta is revolutionizing the healthcare billing industry by integrating generative AI to drastically increase the efficiency of medical coding and billing workflows — ultimately allowing clinicians to dedicate more time to patient care.

As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer, you’ll be a core contributor to the design, architecture, and deployment of intelligent AI-driven tools that tackle some of the most complex challenges in healthcare operations. You’ll be joining a high-impact team where engineering work directly influences the quality of medical services by reducing operational friction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage projects from concept to deployment with a full-lifecycle engineering approach.

• Design, build, and optimize backend systems and microservices that are integral to AI-powered healthtech applications.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to establish product priorities and define technical direction.

• Design and implement innovative features using generative AI, with a focus on real-world impact rather than theoretical implementation.

• Play an active role in defining engineering culture, coding standards, and scalable system architecture.

Tech Stack & Tools:

• Backend: Python (preferred), Node.js, Java

• Tools: Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, Docker, AWS

• Bonus: Interest or experience with large language models (LLMs) and distributed systems

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development.

• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language.
