Senior Software Test Engineer

Follett Software is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to ensure the highest quality in software deliverables for their cutting-edge education technology solutions. This role takes ownership of the testing process throughout the SDLC, contributes ideas, and works closely with product managers and engineers to deliver superior quality software. The Senior Software Test Engineer will be responsible for leading test efforts, creating comprehensive test plans, executing regression tests, and mentoring junior QA Engineers. This position is remote.

Key Responsibilities:

• Risk Assessment & Testing: Use various risk assessment techniques for large-scale web application deployments, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.

• Test Plan & Test Case Development: Develop detailed acceptance tests, create risk-based test plans, and lead the testing effort for multiple features and projects.

• Automation & API Testing: Write and execute automated tests, perform API testing using tools such as Postman, and ensure high-quality integration.

• Team Leadership: Lead testing efforts for the QA team, mentoring and training junior engineers on best practices and procedures.

• Quality Process Improvements: Drive and implement changes in software quality processes and standards.

• SQL & Troubleshooting: Write basic SQL queries to verify and troubleshoot data integrity.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with developers and other QA Engineers, collaborating on software validation and troubleshooting cross-system issues.

• Mobile Testing: Perform mobile testing, including functional, performance, and usability testing across iOS and Android platforms.

• Documentation: Document test processes and procedures to facilitate consistency and knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

• Experience: 5+ years of software testing experience with a deep understanding of testing complex systems, automated testing, and risk management.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure platform, cloud infrastructure, and services.

  • Strong experience with SQL, including complex queries and database optimization.

  • Experience with Jira for project tracking and issue management.

  • Programming experience in languages such as .NET, JavaScript, etc.

  • Expertise in mobile testing (iOS/Android).

• Additional Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience with educational software or familiarity with domain-specific challenges.

  • Experience with facilities management software and Microsoft Visual Studio testing tools.
