Description:
Humana Inc., a leading healthcare services and insurance provider, is seeking a Senior Technical Product Owner – Stars & HEDIS Data to join its team in Louisville, Kentucky. This role will be instrumental in owning and optimizing Humana’s complex data pipelines that feed the CMS HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) rules engine, ensuring compliance with federal and NCQA standards while delivering accurate, high-quality healthcare data to support quality measurement and reporting.
The position bridges product ownership, data and software engineering, and healthcare regulatory requirements. The product owner will define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery processes, while collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to maximize value and ensure compliance. This is a highly visible role influencing organizational strategy and driving Humana’s mission to put health first.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and manage the end-to-end data pipeline for HEDIS data, from ingestion to reporting.
Identify and integrate new data sources; retire outdated or low-value sources.
Monitor and ensure the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of healthcare data.
Develop and maintain the product vision, backlog, and roadmap for HEDIS data processing.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and compliance teams to ensure system reliability and regulatory adherence.
Draft detailed SAFe stories with acceptance criteria to accommodate CMS/NCQA specification changes.
Validate data mappings and transformations impacting HEDIS measure logic.
Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring data pipelines meet business needs.
Coordinate yearly updates for new HEDIS specifications and CMS requirements.
Lead Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and backlog refinement.
Provide insights and analysis to drive business improvements and decision-making.
Support clinical trials, quality initiatives, and performance benchmarking.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in data product development and management or related role.
Strong knowledge of healthcare data, particularly claims and clinical data used in HEDIS.
Familiarity with CMS Stars programs, NCQA standards, and quality measurement metrics.
Experience with ETL tools, APIs, and data platforms.
Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, X12).
Strong stakeholder communication and Agile product ownership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with HEDIS rules engines such as Inovalon, Cotiviti, or proprietary solutions.
Background in clinical informatics or data quality frameworks.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
Additional Information:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Hybrid or remote opportunities available, though Kentucky-based candidates are strongly preferred.
Incentive bonus plan eligibility.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $94,900 – $130,500 annually (depending on skills, experience, and location).
Eligible for performance-based bonus incentives.
