The City of Philadelphia is hiring a Senior Visual Media Specialist to join its Creative Services Team within the Office of Innovation & Technology. This exciting, full-time, on-site opportunity involves leading high-impact video, animation, and multimedia storytelling initiatives across 40+ city departments in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Communication.

This senior-level role is perfect for a media professional who thrives in creative leadership and enjoys producing compelling content that resonates with the public. You’ll be expected to take ownership of the full production lifecycle — from ideation and pre-production to shooting, editing, and motion graphics. In addition to production responsibilities, this position involves mentoring junior team members and aligning all content with the City’s strategic messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide creative and technical leadership to visual media staff

  • Foster a collaborative culture with designers, writers, and marketing staff

  • Ensure brand alignment and strategic messaging consistency

🔹 Video Production

  • Lead the filming of interviews, documentaries, promotional content, and live events

  • Operate Sony a7S III cameras and manage professional lighting, sound, and video gear

🔹 Post-Production & Motion Graphics

  • Edit content using Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Create custom animations and effects with After Effects

  • Manage color grading, sound design, and final exports across various media platforms

🔹 Storytelling & Creative Direction

  • Build storyboards and creative briefs alongside design and comms teams

  • Deliver impactful visual narratives tailored for diverse audiences

🔹 Equipment & Workflow Optimization

  • Maintain and upgrade video production gear

  • Streamline production and integration with broader communication efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Film, Media Arts, Animation, or a related field

  • 5–7 years of professional experience in video production, animation, and media content development

  • Expertise in Sony a7S III cameras, Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition)

  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to manage multiple high-quality deliverables under tight timelines

  • Demonstrated excellence in storytelling, editing, and brand-focused multimedia content creation

Residency Requirement:
Candidate must become a Philadelphia resident within 6 months of hire.
