Description:

The Southern Connecticut Gas Company, part of Avangrid, is seeking skilled and dedicated Service Technician B professionals to join its team in Orange, CT. This critical field role involves working directly with customers to investigate and resolve service-related requests, diagnose and repair issues with gas-consuming equipment, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of gas systems. Under general supervision, Service Technicians are responsible for addressing customer concerns, maintaining gas equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, adjust, repair, and clean all types of gas-consuming appliances and equipment.

  • Inspect, repair, and calibrate gas control systems and related electrical components.

  • Install replacement parts on all gas appliances and ensure correct interchange when required.

  • Investigate and safely resolve any type of gas leak complaints, taking corrective action immediately.

  • Prepare accurate, legible written reports of all services performed on customer premises.

  • Collaborate with other departments, providing necessary support and assistance.

  • Train and mentor lower-classification service technicians as required.

  • Perform duties assigned to lower Service Department classifications when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Must have previously met the requirements of Service C-2.

  • Strong technical knowledge of gas systems and controls, with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.

  • Excellent understanding of company safety procedures, standards, and protocols.

  • Professional appearance with strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to produce accurate written documentation of all performed services.
