Site Safety And Health Officer

Description:

Fisher Industries is actively seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join their team on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project sites. This is a critical on-site role that demands a strong presence during all active work hours and involves significant travel. The SSHO will serve as the "competent person" on-site, tasked with leading safety planning, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Conduct thorough on-site hazard and risk assessments, safety audits, accident investigations, and equipment inspections
🔹 Partner with project managers and site safety reps to provide guidance on project safety compliance and accident investigation
🔹 Lead on-site safety training including Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), regulatory standards, and proper equipment use
🔹 Monitor full compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards and ensure statutory and contractual alignment
🔹 Oversee occupational health and substance abuse testing programs
🔹 Compile and report statistical data on workplace illnesses and accidents
🔹 Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, and wellness evaluations
🔹 Serve as the on-site enforcer of USACE and company safety standards
🔹 Be available to work nights, weekends, and under adverse weather conditions as needed

Requirements:

• 5+ years of safety experience in heavy civil construction

• EM 385-1-1 certification (Required)

• Current OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification

• Current First Aid and CPR certifications

• Competent Person training in: Fall Protection, Excavation, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout

• Experience with USACE projects (preferred)

• Ability to wear full PPE and perform physically demanding tasks (lift/carry up to 50 lbs)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam

• Clean MVR per company vehicle policy

• Willingness to travel extensively and pass pre-employment drug and background checks
