Snowflake Architect

Description:

VMC Soft Technologies, Inc. is actively seeking a Snowflake Architect (Contract Role) with extensive experience in designing and deploying scalable enterprise data solutions. This on-site position, based in New Jersey or New York (Jersey City), requires the candidate to work at the client location three days per week. The ideal candidate must bring a strong command of Snowflake architecture, ELT pipelines, query optimization, and a thorough understanding of on-prem to cloud migrations.

As a senior member of the data engineering team, the Snowflake Architect will play a critical role in modernizing and optimizing data solutions using Snowflake, leveraging advanced SnowSQL, stored procedures, and performance-tuning practices. The role demands a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, develop, and deploy scalable enterprise data solutions using Snowflake.

• Design and implement ELT data pipelines and Snowpipes for real-time and batch data ingestion.

• Migrate legacy data warehouses/applications from on-premise RDBMS to Snowflake.

• Write and optimize complex SnowSQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions (UDFs).

• Improve query performance and control compute costs using best practices.

• Utilize Snowflake-specific features such as clustering, storage layers, and schema design for optimized data warehousing.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals independently or as part of a team.

• Work within UNIX/LINUX environments for operational support.

• Optional: Leverage DBT (Data Build Tool) and experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.

Must-Have Skills:

• 10+ years in enterprise data solution architecture and development.

• 5+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.

• Expertise in ELT, Snowpipes, query tuning, and SnowSQL.

• Proficiency in UNIX/LINUX environments.

• Strong communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with DBT (Data Build Tool).

• Exposure to Azure or AWS cloud ecosystems.
