Snubber Technician

Description:

Element Materials Technology, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, is seeking a motivated Snubber Technician I to join its Huntsville, AL laboratory within the Nuclear Snubber department. This role is critical to ensuring safety and compliance at nuclear power plants by testing, maintaining, and rebuilding snubber devices that protect essential infrastructure.

This position requires extensive travel (up to 100%) and involves irregular working hours, particularly during nuclear plant outages. Key Responsibilities:

• Remove, reinstall, and perform maintenance on nuclear snubber devices.

• Conduct qualification, acceptance, and R&D testing for nuclear customers.

• Assist with snubber rebuilds, troubleshooting, and basic test result interpretation.

• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety practices, regulatory standards, and testing protocols.

• Work closely with clients during nuclear plant outages to support technical requirements.

• Contribute to the preparation of procedures, test reports, and process documentation.

• Perform other related duties as assigned under supervision.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Certification, Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree preferred.

• Experience: 0–3 years of experience in a relevant technical or mechanical role.

• Basic knowledge of nuclear testing principles and safety practices.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 100%).
