Social Media Engagement Producer

Description:

The Chronicle of Higher Education and The Chronicle of Philanthropy seek a creative and enthusiastic Engagement Producer to work at the front lines of our growing editorial audience team.

As Engagement Producer, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping two publications, each with uncommonly smart and devoted audiences, reach new readers and turn occasional readers into loyal ones. You’ll manage our social-media presence with voice and verve, track audience-engagement metrics, moderate discussion groups and interact with readers, prompt readers to discuss Chronicle reports and products, and help train a staff of journalists to expand the reach of their work. From Day One, you’ll be doing essential work to help two acclaimed, highly collaborative newsrooms widen their audiences, build loyalty, and create value for subscribers.

What you’ll do:

●    You’ll execute The Chronicle’s social-media strategy across all platforms, refining and modernizing our voice, expanding our reach, and increasing connection with our readers.

●    You’ll track success metrics to determine how we can expand our social-media reach and engage new audience.

●    You’ll interact directly with our readers in a range of formats, including moderation of group discussions.

●    You’ll help plot new opportunities to promote our journalism more widely and make it journalism more interactive and engaging.

●    You’ll provide insight and guidance to reporters and editors in both newsrooms on how our work can resonate with our digital audiences and how to deepen our relationships with them. You’ll also advise the newsrooms on headlines and story formats that resonate on social media.

●    And you’ll do all of this while championing our standards for accuracy, fairness, and best-in-class authority on higher education.

Who you are:

●    You have one or more years of experience in an audience-engagement role, preferably for a news publisher.

●    You have demonstrated experience running social-media accounts and growing audience for a news publisher, using metrics to inform decisions.

●    You have sound news judgment and are a clear, creative and effective communicator.

●    You’re a natural collaborator who’s comfortable taking part in conversations across departments, with editorial and business colleagues.

●    You’re a creative thinker who is enthusiastic about the future of journalism and the possibilities associated with an evolving media landscape.

●    You have some knowledge of issues in the higher-education and/or social sectors, or you’re excited to learn them quickly.
