J Ellington Publishing LLC, in collaboration with Voice Up, Flyght Academy, and The Wright Way Foundation, is seeking a licensed Social Worker for a part-time Family Wellness Specialist role in the Dayton, Ohio area. This unique opportunity allows for flexible engagement with three service options: fully remote, hybrid, or on-campus. The position is part of a visionary movement that uses sports and education to strengthen communities and support student-athletes and their families through integrated mental health and wellness services.
The Social Worker will contribute to an innovative Online/On-Campus Learning Alliance, delivering holistic support that bridges mental health, family dynamics, and purpose-driven education. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with youth, familiar with trauma-informed practices, and capable of offering both individual and family counseling. This is a mission-driven role focused on combating loneliness and disconnection by building meaningful support systems within families and educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and family counseling with a mental health focus, utilizing the "Baker’s Dozen" wellness framework
Lead crisis intervention efforts and facilitate wellness planning through purpose-discovery models
Conduct group therapy emphasizing the core values of Collaboration, Humility, Precision, Patience, and Empathy
Align mental health support for student-athletes with NCAA compliance standards
Connect families to essential community resources and build collaborative support systems
Work alongside college mentors and educators to reinforce student success
Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with ethical social work standards
Support student-led community impact initiatives that complement therapeutic goals
Required Qualifications:
MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution
Active or eligible licensure (LSW/LCSW)
Proven experience in school-based or family social work, or youth mental health counseling
Expertise in trauma-informed care and crisis management
Proficiency in delivering therapy both virtually and on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with student-athletes and familiarity with sports psychology
Knowledge of NCAA mental health requirements
Background in strength-based or purpose-centered therapy
Experience supporting homeschooling families or alternative educational environments
Bilingual language skills
Position Format & Flexibility:
Part-time, 15–25 hours/week with flexible scheduling
Choose from three service delivery models:
Online Specialist: Fully remote virtual counseling and family engagement
On-Campus Specialist: In-person sessions in Trotwood, OH, combined with telehealth
Hybrid Specialist: Mix of online and campus-based work depending on family needs
Clinical supervision provided for licensure
Ongoing professional development and continuing education supported
