Description:

ENGIE North America is seeking a skilled and dedicated Solar Technician to join the Long Draw Solar Site team, located near Gail, Texas. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on technician who thrives in a field environment and is passionate about renewable energy.

In this role, you will work independently while maintaining close coordination with your site team and leadership. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain solar panels and related systems, ensuring optimal performance. Your responsibilities will also include managing documentation, updating inventory, submitting status reports, and initiating work orders for equipment repairs.

You will also coordinate high-voltage switching activities, work closely with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), and perform critical substation operations and equipment lockouts.


Key Responsibilities:

✅ Perform technical repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on solar panels and associated equipment.
✅ Use systems such as SCADA, Maximo, and SAP to access tasks and document work.
✅ Manage and submit daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, ensuring accurate reporting of site status.
✅ Coordinate high-voltage switching activities with utilities and ISOs.
✅ Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including conducting Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and participating in safety meetings.
✅ Work closely with a site manager and Balance of Plant technician to ensure seamless operations.
✅ Participate in on-call rotation for outages and emergency response.


Requirements:

✔️ Minimum High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of related work experience (solar, wind, manufacturing, mining, or industrial maintenance).
✔️ OR a 2-year technical diploma with expertise in AC/DC current, electrical theory, schematics reading, and industrial electrical equipment.
✔️ Must obtain AVO Substation Technician Certification within 12 months of hire.
✔️ Must reside within 50 miles of the Long Draw Solar Site for on-call availability.
✔️ Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
✔️ Willingness to travel domestically to other solar plants when necessary.
✔️ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
✔️ Compliance with all ENGIE safety and ethics policies, including COVID vaccination and testing requirements.


Work Environment:

🛠️ Field position with regular daily travel to client sites
🏢 30% indoor work / 70% outdoor work (exposure to weather conditions)


Compensation:

💵 Hourly Rate: $34.20 - $45.58 (translates to approx. $5,928 - $7,893 monthly based on 40 hours/week)
📈 Eligible for competitive bonus/incentive plan and emergency/on-call pay
